almost a pair. The left one is 11 mm, the right one 11.2 mm. The left frosted with 1200 plated, the right one with 600 sintered which I prefer. Spellbound Square by Jeff Rhonemus

Oh, I'll have to try that out next time I have an empty milk bottle on hand, my tablet gets quite a large head shadow and more diffuse light always helps.
This also shows off the superior finish of sintered laps, much less chance of high spots. I've had similar performance with laps using plastic binders too, though they don't cut as flat as harder materials. Kind of waxy ground glass look on sapphire.

Those kornerupines look like a bit of a struggle to keep the flaws away from the surface, but the keystone is definitely to my liking.
I've been cutting radiants a bit, blame GLhays' scapolite from last year, the stone on the left is a red, red, tourmaline I snapped up a while back, 6.7mm and cut in a heavily modified Wolkonsky design that I should post on the project, it really performs and has good scintillation. The rough was weirdly cracked, but flawless outside of a point near the cap.
The stone on the right is a 12.3mm Nd-YAG... very light pink from soviet labs, apparently. It's an 8 main radiant that I cut to test the ECED concept, without being too similar to GLHays' one, not as good as the 4 main design, but I mainly wanted to check what the effects of tilting past the primary reflection would be. I'll definitely cut the 4 main version after my current projects.

Shifter you can not blame me for your obsessions with light bending now.
Nice work all!
Attached is the radiant design used for the scapolite way back if anyone wants it.
I absolutely will blame you for making me put two and two together - my tendency to adjust indices is just it's own thing at this point. Thanks for posting your design, the girdle facets do seem neccesary for a good pattern in this style of cut despite the extra depth needed.
Here's the version I settled with after transferring the stone, it doesn't have the typical girdle facets, but shouldn't be too hard to put them on it.

Many things happened, I had to stop cutting for quite a bit, but now I'm back. And trying to catch up.
Two stones with rough sold as "Paraiba YAG". The one on the left is the frequently found "ceramic YAG" slab you see in many places. For some reasons, mine is greener than most. I do like a neon bluish green color, but I was expecting a "pool blue" when I bought it. Online pics of cut stones range everywhere from pool blue to bluish green like mine. Are some photos a little misleading (my own pic tends to be a little more on the blue side than what I see!), or is the material subject to the mood of the person adding the cromophores in the recipe? On the right, a monoxtl more on the blue side, still with a good amount of green, but not as saturated. Both are very nice materials to work with.
I also cut an awesome chonker of Cr:YAG I got from our Stephen here, but that's for another day...

Marco! Glad you're back into cutting
You're right on both counts. Photographing Yb3+:YAG is pretty difficult - just like how some colour-change gems are a pain in the butt to photograph colour-wise, Yb3+ in garnets is also difficult to photograph, and can show up as blue, blue-green, green, Paraiba, or grey depending on your camera. And then the crystal growth is also variable - Yb3+ can be oxidized or reduced in different growing conditions, and while it usually substitutes in the Y site it can also be forced into the Al site which changes absorption properties (as it profoundly deforms the lattice).

It's not a "back to cutting" if I don't cut a piece of quartz. This amethyst is a "made in USA" one. My last piece of JXR amethyst (well, I got 3 in my entire life, I think). What I like about the two crystals form this locale I got is that they are very very transparent, and the color has no gray/brown even when they are lighter in color. Remember: quartz snob here.
