After reading many previous posts regarding the Batt/Darkside Polishing laps, I am thinking of purchasing them soon from Gearloose. However, I would like to know the difference between the Darkside and Darkside Pro? I wish If I read your post before purchasing the Tin polishing lap few days ago. I got it today but never use it.

The only difference is the thickness and weight of the lap. The Darkside is a thin, inexpensive lap, but certain faceting machines can cause them to warp over the years. The Darkside Pro is the exact same lap, but thicker and heavier. This prevents the warping, allows for more resurfacing, and I'm sure "feels" better to use.

Yes, the original Darkside was first made popular by faceting schools. It was designed to be modestly priced so everyone could have one..a "Volkswagen".
They are identical in operation and results. Often when people like one and rely on it and decide that is going to be their frequently-used polishing lap, they get the "Heavy" one.
The Darkside regular weight is a date. The "Pro" is a wedding. More thickness=More resurfacings=longer life.
I loaded mine up with diamond just to see what would happen on quartz. No deep scratches, some grooving but nothing that is eye visible. I have a Battwing and like using the darkside but if you put too much oxide or diamond on it you will get ugly scratches. That said, I love my Battwing for repairs.
