My friend, the overwhelming advice has been, leave the stone alone. Cabbing it could lead to as much a disaster, as re-facetting.
Emeralds are accepted with all their inclusions, fractures, whispy veils, etc, simply because they are Emeralds, and in bigger sizes, bloody hard to come by.
Maybe your friend could consider commissioning a special jewellery piece, and ending with something very beautiful.

That's a great response Michael E , the idea of re cutting in any way is dropped for good Barry . Thx everyone for helping me here.

Since the owner of stone is presently in US so that would be the first market he may want to touch after which UK for another month and then back home ..He did approach some auction house in UK around the time he purchased it from me where he was advised to have it set in a ring since they did not move loose gems . The advise then was not heeded for lack of time and interest , now he has both but would still like one to one transaction with a dealer.

I shall definitely apprise you all here , since I know his purchase price I 'll not comment on whether or not he is at a disadvantage today.

Many thx

Mazhar
