I have spent a lot of time in the last several months researching the next generation of Twistor diamond lap. As some may have read in this forum, this prepolishing lap was an Adamas/Gearloose collaboration that Gearloose could not continue in manufacture due to the abrasive swarf the process generated. For those who liked the Twistor, I have good news for you. The new Twistor, which I call Twistor2, has double the diamond layer thickness of the original Twistor, greater resin bond hardness than the original, and double the diamond concentration. The color of the bond will be a light yellow brown on a dynamically balanced, 1 cm. thick aluminum alloy baseplate. The lap will be 20 cm. in diameter with a 7 cm. wide by 3 mm. thick diamond layer. This lap produces a prepolish, but the slightly coarser micron size and higher diamond concentration produces significant material removal so prepolishing large tables takes place relatively fast, you can finish cut girdles without as many lap changes, and use it without concern of "pressing too hard" which is a caution issued for a resin bond lap made by another company. This is a water drip lap that is compatible with Adamas water soluble lubricant. This lap will be available very soon, but I can answer questions right now.

How is this project coming?
My club has asked me to teach a class on faceting. I have converted 2 old graves machines to digital readouts and am about ready to start a class in January.
I would like to buy 2 of the new twistors for the club, I think that it would make teaching faceting much easier.

Twistor2 has been available for a year now. The final color of the resin bond is a black green. Information here: http://www.adamasfacet.com/twistor2.html Please download and read the Twistor2Care pdf linked near the bottom of the page.

Steve, The newer creamway seems like a harder version than older ones, facets are sharper. The Polish comes in fast on quartz, also works well on Beryl especially if fractures are surface reaching, Greg

Early January 2019. The new Creamway is a consolidation of the Skyway and the old Creamway. This lap now polishes everything that the old Creamway did, but faster, and everything that the Skyway did. It is a water drip only type lap.

Thanks Greg. I will likely try one when they are ready. Always looking to go faster and easier.
