This is a Spessartite Garnet that I just finished last week. I ran into an inclusion as I was finishing the crown. I thought about recutting the entire crown to get rid of the inclusion but you can see there are many other inclusions that might cause other problems. I just decided to let this one stay. It does break the surface but it is not visible with the naked eye. You have to use a loupe to look and find it but I know it is there. It really is a beautiful gem with wonderful color. My question is how would other cutters handle this issue especially with Spessartite Garnets as they are prone to many inclusions. Would you leave as is and sell normal price, would you discount or would you recut?
Thanks,
Alex

Tsk, tsk. This stone is now unlike any other on Earth. There's not another the same color, shape, weight and well-cut like this one. It's unique! Double the price!

Here's how you sell included spess. Point out the lack of extinction in the gem. Always helps to have another to show them what that means. Point out how the gas bubbles etc are a real plus, because they scatter the light and knock out all the extinction in the gem so it looks "so much brighter". The inclusions become a huge plus and when the person understands, they really love it.
This is leftover BS from the diamond industry grading system, and has no place in colored stones, unless you have rock and graphite in there.
