Oh joy. I have tried 3 batteries, 2 NiMH 9V and a Duracell, all with spark your tongue voltage. No display. I even opened the 9V connector to check for a loose wire. Sigh.
Any thoughts or suggestions? I get nothing on the display, so assume it is elsewhere.

I wouldn't give up so easily, George. Any kind of device can fail, and I'd say the best thing is to fix it. In spite of all the bad press lately, I've had good success with Graves fixing things that I fouled up. Call them and try to speak to Peter.

Maybe. It was working in the AM on Thursday and not after that. I think I will try a Lithium 9v. My WalMart shows them in stock.

The only failures that I knew of involved a broken wire. Even on the original XS3, the only failure I remember is when some idiot moved and could not find the power supply, so took a drawerful of them and plugged on after another into the machine's jack.

Thanks Jon.
I tried a Lithium 9v. No joy. Bad cap maybe? Don't want to take the housing apart just yet, but about there. It had no shocks. If the kids had messed with it, the aqua on it would have come off.

I would be curious to know how the display or on/off switch could be replaced. I worry about the on/off because I use it a lot. With polishing for example I switch it off as the numbers are irrelevant for me once I have done the first facet on a row.

Both can be replaced without too much difficulty. 15 minutes if someone is competent. It's not my machine any more, so I am not getting into it, and have fifty people rush to take theirs apart- you know they will. One of the first people who ever bought a 5XL had a fit of idiocy and did that. Graves fixed it; I wouldn't have. If anyone ever does get into trouble, write me.
