I had an issue last night and it took me a little while to solve it. Suddenly, my spindle slowed to a stop. Took everything off and tipped it on its side. It started spinning again, but when I cut the dial from 10 to 7, it stopped. Put it back on 10 and started to lower it back down and it stopped. Off. On side again, belt off. No work until it hit 7 and died as I lowered it. Now cursing thinking my motor went south. Then I noticed so power dust around the rheostat collar. Look at it and there is splatter on the circuit board. Unplugged it, cleaned it with a cloth with alcohol and presto! Works again.
Lesson A) do not even attempt to use a 4" saw blade as it drips down into the base. Lesson B) far-sighted, drunken giants do the soldering on the board for the speed control. The soldering is better described as a highway in its width and travel.

Not surprised by your report. Use a 6" or 15 cm diameter saw blade. And the water line continues to creep up the hull of the USS Graves.
