I have 3 brand new crystalite solid steel faceting laps. My question is: do I have to charge them?

No, I would assume you have something like 360, 600 and 1200 (or similar) for grits. If so they'll contain embedded diamond in a matrix of some type of base metal, no charging needed.

I have a 600 mesh, 1200 mesh and a 3000 mesh all soil steel
