Hello experts

after some basic excercises following the manual I gave it a tryto modify a design.

Its the Beginner Tourmalin by Michiko Huynh. It sets the L/W at 1,5 but actually it turns out, that my rough would be rather 1,8. I hoped that I could stretch the design and angles of the crown would adjust, so the table fits. I copied the design with 1.8 but then the table is too short to reach the meet with B. Any ideas how to proceed or maybe some new angles for the crown.

I tried to attach the gcs file but that is not allowed. Here is the link

Since the new L/W is one fifth longer, the tier indices for C have to be reduced by one sixth.
This follows for other bar cuts that have oblique tiers(ie not cardinal direction indices) too!
As long as you keep the table size relatively similar, most scissor-type crowns don't change much when you do this...

Thanks, do I understand correctly that I reduce the angle of C to 18 ° ?

I will try to create the desighn like that in Gem Studio. I was hoping that Gem Studio would have the possibility to adjust that within the programm. Would have been a nice thing in my learning process with design. I have no Gemcad knowledge so far and only have recut existing designs.

Erm, not quite. The angle of tier C can stay at 22° - instead you change the number in the Mirror section from 6 to 5 for that tier. By changing the Mirror number for C, you are lengthening the table facet to fit the new L/W.

well I tried that but setting the symetry to 2 and mirror to 5 gives me a good meet with B but I the fall short for the meet with A.

Trial and error if C is 16° it looks good. If that looks good for the stone ?

Anyhow I learnt something about mirrors
