Mettler, OHaus, Sartorius are top scales in the commercial trade. They are pricy but accurate. Many scales on the low end will vary in the accuracy in a small amount. Most come with a weight for checking it's accuracy. And most have the ability to reset to zero on a common calibration weight. So say you have a scale you believe is the most accurate with given calibration weight, you then use the weight on other scales to calibrate them to each other. But generally speaking a $40 scale is as good as another. Typically accuracy is not what drives the price, it is the specific specs one scale offers over another, like min-max weights, UOM, overall size and more important is accuracy point ie: .0001 or .0005.

Let me clarify my earlier comment to: But generally speaking a $40 scale is as good as any other $40 scale. Just in case anyone misinterpreted that as a $40 scale is as good as any other scale.
