Please recommend a scale/balance that accurately weights gems and lasts long.

I got a couple but they show inaccurate weights

Mettler, OHaus, Sartorius are top scales in the commercial trade. They are pricy but accurate. Many scales on the low end will vary in the accuracy in a small amount. Most come with a weight for checking it's accuracy. And most have the ability to reset to zero on a common calibration weight. So say you have a scale you believe is the most accurate with given calibration weight, you then use the weight on other scales to calibrate them to each other. But generally speaking a $40 scale is as good as another. Typically accuracy is not what drives the price, it is the specific specs one scale offers over another, like min-max weights, UOM, overall size and more important is accuracy point ie: .0001 or .0005.

Tanitas are doing the job reasonnably well without breaking the bank: https://www.tanita.com/en/carat-gem-scales/

For professional use, I'd recommend a Mettler Toledo.

I have never had very good luck with the cheap scales.

But, at a minimum the scale you pick should have an accuracy to 0.005 carat.

It should also have a wind shield as even the smallest amount of moving air will affect readings.

With these two attributes working correctly you should never be more that 0.01 off.

Look for a scale that is certified as "Legal for Trade".

Let me clarify my earlier comment to:
But generally speaking a $40 scale is as good as any other $40 scale.
Just in case anyone misinterpreted that as a $40 scale is as good as any other scale.
