It’s with my greatest pleasure that I announce the next Gemcutting Conversations webinar. My guest will be Ken Harrington of Salamander Gems. I befriended Ken a few years back when I first visited his Ipswich cutting studio and since then he has become a long distance mentor of mine.
Ken started his lapidary apprenticeship at Chas Matthews in London in 1960 and has been cutting and involved with the gem trade ever since. He now runs his own studio out of Ipswich, England where he has trained several cutters over the years to cut with the traditional British jambpeg style. I’m very excited to talk to Ken about his experiences as an apprentice in the British system and his time a teacher as well as talking about the jambpeg style of cutting that has been used, almost unchanged, in London since the 1820s! Please join us this Sunday as we go deep into a Gemcutting Conversation.
