We all find our way sooner or later and some spend very little and others of us invest into our lap museums. I've gone the museum route. I was very impressed with the performance of the new compound of the Creamway. But a decent 600 topper, a diamond 1200 copper, diamond 8k copper and round piece of composite countertop material, cd disc, linoleum or many other options were all there used to be, got it done also.

This is very true! I started off very inexpensively, and cut many great stones with equipment that left a lot to be desired. In time though I did slowly replace equipment with better as the budget allowed. This was not for an improvement in quality of the finished stone, but to reduce the time it takes to produce an equal quality stone. This also reduced the headaches!

I got a Zirconium Oxide Battstik (same compound the creamway is made with) from Gearloose a while back and was very impressed with how quickly it polished Quartz. This is what I used when teaching my 10 year old daughter to facet her first Amethyst and even on her first attempt, she had great results and didn't get bored!
If it were me, and I wanted better results with as little money spent as possible... I'd follow some of the other advice given here to get the cutting/prepolish under control better, then throw in an inexpensive Zirconium Oxide Battstik to use on your existing polish lap. You might be surprised how much improvement you may see without even changing polishing laps.

Im thinking that maybe a gearlose tin+creamway 2 in one kap would work well in prepolish and polish, but will tin could be able to “move” facets and place in site like a 1200 sintered or is less abrasive i tink. I ve never used tin lap with battstick.

The tin outter band would need charging of a diamond medium, say 3k or 8k which both will move facets, the creamway is water only lap. You can add cerium to the creamway band for some added perfomance. Yes zirconium oxide can be used on phenolic lap
