I personally can not rate it based on this image, as in lapidary or faceting quality that is. I guess if it is a emerald it can always be rated as a mineral or crystal specimen. What kind of rating are you looking for?

My immediate guess is "Not emerald" because it doesn't appear to have a 6 sided crystal. The patter shown end on looks like it is 4-way.
But with more pictures I *might* change my mind.

I would start by getting a positive identification from a reputable lab.

Okay now I have to agree with Barbra, get it tested and come back with the results.

I had a nice emerald that looked kind of like that mixed in with a parcel of Ethiopian stones. Had the right hexagonal shape, biotite clinging to the surface and it was pretty clean too, a sweet deal! But the color down the C was just a bit too yellow when I got a better look at it, vs the a axes which were bluer. A closer look, a raman scan, and yup. Apatite. They done got me good, and I don't even know which dealer I got it from (though it's just as likely that they were themselves had).
Point is, don't take it on faith that this is an emerald, especially with an off color like this.

... deceptive apatite whose name is inspired by the Greek apatan ("to deceive") . It seems to me that the so called "emerald roots" are green apatites most of the time.

Hello. Can you send a picture of the stone for comparison?

A picture will not help you.
Get a qualified individual to optically test. :smt023

A picture comparison will not determine if yours is an actual beryl.
