Ah, here I'm after a long hiatus. I fractured my right shoulder, so for a while faceting was definitely out of question, as an activity. This is my first stone after recovery, 5.15 ct. Verneuil spinel:
Albeit with some minor issues still there, I can still cut a stone, I guess.

finally managed to cut a stable cabochon of the Stayish mine material Turned out 7ct This stuff is a pain in the ass, deep reaching sand inclusions and unforeseeable fractures.

I've been busy this winter, but a sunny Labor Day weekend meant I was able finally finish a stone. This was a purple-grey crystal that had a couple of pink spots on the surface, but now it's faceted it's a weird zinc blue tone. Unfortunately there was a pair of growth tubes in a bad spot, but it seems eye-clean otherwise?

Go easy on me, it's my third stone. A highly included .9ct Mahenge or Umba (the parcel of a mixture of both allegedly, 3-5ct stones, with the largest being the most included) garnet.
I would just call it a "Red" garnet. Note, the inclusion exiting the table through the center of the stone.

Two nice uncommon synthetics today
First, a Czochralski pinkish-red spinel. It photographs more pink than it is in real life. It also happens with my natural Burmese spinel: it's red RED; I take a pic, it looks pink.
This is another stone which is troublesome to get a decent pic of: a light blue synthetic rutile. This thing puts blue diamonds into shame! It looks foggy, but it's not in person. That extreme birefringence is also something funny...

Here's a copy of that crescent moon Maialetto did a while ago in some adventurescent grey moonstone.

My camera isn't good enough to show the inclusions as anything but specks, though they resemble those in lattice sunstone.
Also, new designs are up on the wiki, I've procrastinated long enough with the triolettes, but transferring them isn't as simple as I hoped. Currently cutting Nonary Token.

That "moon" concept (John Bailey's) works really well with translucent materials, and I especially like it in sunstones with schiller. Yours looks really nice!

The curved facet also means the concept plays nice with adularescence too, the sheen on this stone shows up if you hold it side-on to a light source despite the axis for it being below the girdle. With a slight orientation change I could probably get it to show up with the schiller at the same time, and I've got 55 grams to practice with...

I have been getting familiar with my new Ultra Tec Fantasy machine. Previously was using the Polymetric OMF for concave facets.
First stone done with the new machine was a 7.12 ct., 12.0 mm rose quartz hexagon. I had done this cut previously with the OMF. Selection of material was to allow for learning mistakes without financial impact.

Next is a 10.41 ct. colorless topaz triangular cushion that is 12.9 mm. across.

And most recent stone and first where I tried not-straight-on concaves, is a 9.49 ct. lemon citrine which measures 14.9 x 10.8 mm.
