After seeing some on this board, I wanted to try cutting Ce:YAG... This stuff is evil. With sunlight, the emission is absolutely amazing. This is inside (LED light), it still glows a little:

Love the before and after of the sapphire too! Great work Trevor!
Maialetto - that color change looks amazing!
Just finished a set of three stones - all cut from the same bi-color (tricolor maybe) synthetic boule. The largest one has a blue corner when it moves, but it blends into a blue/green color when still. Basically it looks like it’s midway between the colors of the smaller blue and green stones. It’s going to be a pair of earrings and a pendant, and I’d love to get it into the hands of someone with heterochromia

Some time ago I had a huge chunk of light blue Brazilian topaz. I cut two large stones out of it, then I had one "small chip" left. Which I cut yesterday:

1.8ct Montana Sapphire, in Long & Steeles "Super Pear 96". Really happy with the colour in this one! It does have a slight bowtie in the middle depending on the light. Is that from the cut itself or me not quite getting the angles right?

Nope, that's from the cut itself. Also why are all of your usernames for every site totally different?

Good to know! Haha they're just from different stages of life I guess. I swear I'm really trying to consolidate them now!

It's a common problem with pears that have a lower mains angle near the point, you can see it in some form in Marco's Maya Drop and Jeff's Brilliant Pear too. There are ways to fix it (which you can see in Maya Drop), but you don't get a nice round blunt end...

Beautiful Maialetto...your stones always remind me I need to try something with frosted facets!
