So here is a weird question. You know how a fresnel lens is FLAT? Suppose you had a very shallow gemstone to cut. Can you do a trick like Fresnel did to cut it so it would look much larger?

While not Fresnel specifically, there are a number of cutters who utilize non-traditional cutting techniques to get better weight return from shallow rough. John Dyer, the Munsteiners, Richard Homer, Michael Dyber, etc. just to name a few that come to mind.

Hello, did that several times, that way of cutting makes for very interesting Stones, even more optical effects when engraved with grooves or bowls on the Top as well.
