I can guess what this machine is doing. I can also guess at the price. Not affordable by small cutting operations.
Ultrafast laser. Cost of machine exceeds USD2,000,000
Would be economical only for cutting large stones in high labor cost countries.

That is a long developmental cycle for any machine and indicates that this working group set up to develop a fully automated machine many years ago but scrapped various prototypes.

Article states that the machine is being tested by several diamond cutting firms in Belgium.
That indicates that the machine is still in prototype stage with problems that make it non-marketable in its present form.

And the photo shows just one machine. How about a video of the machine actually cutting a diamond from start to finish.

I think this is hype at this point.
