I got new dops with my new machine, and the 1/8, 3/16, and 1,4" v dops all have a flat at the bottom of the v. No way will a sharp culet fit.
My old dops dont have this problem. But then again I never had a 1/8 or 1/4" before, I just adapted and overcame. Please tell me I dont have to attack my new dops with hacksaw and files.

Am I missing something or did the manufacturer miss something?
I can see missing one, but all 3?

That's an "oops"! I have two old Raytech Shaws and none of the dops look like that. Return to sender...

Since they look like aluminum, they'd be easy to modify with a triangular file, but yeah--see if you can get the manufacturer to replace 'em and cover postage.

Tool was not properly centered in the indexer. Made a pass, rotated 180°, made a pass, the outside was symmetrical and looked fine, but.
It is tempting to mutter "Slitting saw" to fix that and relieve the bottom.
Ideally, V dops should be made with a 60° cutter, not 45°. It avoids culet or keel contact with the metal and bears on the larger facets near the girdle for the bond.
When I make conical dops, I use a piloted countersink so there is a little relief pocket at the bottom to insure the culet floats free in a "bubble" and no force ever sees it.
