Cats do not belong in airplanes unless it's pretend.

See this heartbreakingly sweet video of a cat mourning his friend:

That is so true. I have seem them mourn, for cat or human friends. They really do.
When my neighbor died "His" cat was inconsolable. and nearly starved herself to death. In a year or more she grudgingly accepted the company of the widow, but she was never really the same for the rest of her life.
We had a cat die, and his daughter looked for him for a year, howling at closet doors, etc.

This is the biggest thing that put me over the edge and really love animals, including the wild ones like the racoons who visit.
Every one is different in personality. Each is a distinct unique individual.

People who say, "So your dog/cat/ferret/etc. died. Just get another one." are missing some element that would otherwise have made them human. I generally unperson them.

The point is, for any friend, regardless of number of legs, there IS no "Another one."

That is so true, Jon!

I had a cat who became so upset when she saw me cry, for example while watching a sad movie, that she would be all over me making a kind of gurgling sound in her throat.

She certainly had a unique personality - one of her quirks was that she had a security blanket that she would knead before falling asleep. If she moved to another room, she would drag the security blanket along in her mouth, making short, intermittent sounds with her mouth closed.

One of the fondest memories I have of my cat is when I got a very strong flu and she got worried. :D

My cat never slept on my bed when I was sleeping in it, because during the night I often kept the door closed, and because when I sleep I can move quite a bit. When she was young she tried a few times, but she ended up being kicked out, squished, or whatever. So never more than a short, careful, visit, during my sleep.

One day I got a flu with very high fever and I was forced to stay in bed for three days, feeling pretty bad. My cat probably thought: "Oh, he's not waking up, he's barely moving. That's really weird!". So she jumped on my bed, came to stare at my face, a couple of sniffs, poking with her paw, and then started sleeping beside me. She stayed there for all the three days I was in bed, with very quick breaks for going to eat and/or to the restroom. I remember her jumping down from my bed, running to the kitchen, eating quickly some food, jumping back on my bed to check me, and sleep there.
She was used to sleep at night on, or close, to my parent's bed, but for those three days she never even went to their room. There was Marco to take care of. :D

She never slept on my bed, while I was sleeping on it, again (I've never got that sick again as well...).

A cat will reciprocate kindnesses, too. We used to feed a local "outside cat" regularly. When we went on vacation for a few days, he apparently thought we had run out of food, and we had quite a pile of offerings on the back steps when we returned.

Want to take a peek at this?

Why cat people are better than dog people
https://www.thedodo.com/dog-people-vs-c ... 41230.html

What it says there under "Round 5" seems to clarify why it is so hard to find guys that are cat owners on Dating Buzz and yet it teems with dog owners!

I'm a "night owl", so "early birds" bother me, too!

Early Birds. We once stayed at a caravan park in Wales. Every morning, a little before sunrise, a rook*, one to each metal roof, began pounding. It sounded like a hammer. Whether they were marking territory, or just being mean, we will never know, but it was cruel, as Pubs were involved evenings.
Where were the cats when we needed them...

* Kind of like a big crow.

Check out these cute pet carriers with a bubble window for your pet to peek out!

Jon,
You should get one of these - then Iggy can take you for a walk in cold and wet weather while he stays snug and warm and dry!

I cannot seem to get one big enough for His Greatness.
We bought a small dog one, and he had his vet visit a few weeks ago. I had trouble fitting him into the carrier. He is now around 22Lbs /10 Kg and I had to buy a dog harness for him for our walks. He is on a diet. But he will never be a small cat again.
He didn't used to mind going to the vet, but... Anyway, Iggy has business cards for his website. I gave one to the Tech and the Vet. The vet had his stethoscope on and was checking Iggy's heart, when his shoulders started shaking.

"WHAT? What? What is it? A murmur?? Valve regurgitation?? AFIB??? WHAT????""

"A CAT with his own website! HAHAHAHHA! Haha! Haha!"

"I help him with the HTML! He has trouble with it (No thumbs) and tells me what to write. What is WRONG with you????"

Best wishes for the festive season!

He is at http://www.ignatiusthegreat.com It has turned into a rather long site over the years. I had first started it as a joke for my nieces, but then...
He made me keep doing things with it.
He stares at me and manipulates me.
