Those "wedge" shapes (spinel on the left) always drive me crazy... :smt012 I see potential, but all the solutions I find tend to end with a low recovery.
If the rough is large, I tend to go for a combination cut, otherwise the best compromise I've found is a rectangle with keel (cutting away the thin side/tip of the rough, -left side in your picture-).

...but of course you cannot get a perfect color + good shape + good clarity + low price. We are living in the real world.
Stunning colors, tho. I can definitely understand why you got them. ;)

Do you have any solution you like for dealing with such "wedge" shape?

I try not to get too caught up with driving my self crazy over yield. I find that sometime you end up cutting a shape that has either poor performance, or a weird shape that is not that attractive to the typical buyer. At times you may save a little weight, but the sacrifice in the final product is not worth it.
When I cut a stone, I don't think that much about what the particular piece or rough cost, I always shoot for the most attractive stone in a sellable shape. I get more selective with my rough buying, and then when it's time to cut, I don't think about the cost or recovery that much.

Actually the spinel on the left is a pretty good shape for a decent recovery, it's just sitting at an odd orientation for the picture.
