I just love looking at the images of gems presented on EBay and imagining what the stones REALLY look like. I found this one today which I had to chuckle at:

A few things happened there. One, the saturation of the still images was boosted. 2. The lighting on the still images appears to have been non-daylight calibrated LEDs which also added more blue to the image. 3. Any time doing video from a digital camera, your colors will often be a bit more mute and not as lively, unless you have one that allows full control over video settings which most do not.
But either way, the still images are greatly enhanced by using a bluish led light as well as bumping up the blue saturation in editing. And last, but not least, it also appears they used a healing brush or cloning tool to remove much of the included material in the stone in still images, which can still be seen in the video. Tsk Tsk! They may have even been using a blue background to reflect the light off of to make it more blue, but I didn't examine close enough to say that for sure or not.
