The examination registration form landed today, and while I'm on the old course notes, it appears the exam will be by the new "model", as the time scheduled is 3 hours for practical (instead of 3,5 hours). For theory it's 3 hours and 10 minutes (I don't know if that's changed, as I don't have any info to compare with).
We've been practising in the lines of the old model. How many gems will there be in each section of the practical exam? Also, is there anything new on the theory exam I need to know about?

Thanks in advance!

Wish I could do it, but Gem-A aren't holding exams in Bangkok again.

... yet another 6 months passes with no chance to get the FGA. Two years now :(

They say it is because nobody is taking the FGA in these countries anymore, and therefore cannot justify sitting exams in the ATC centres.

If they wipe my Theory scores, and make me resit those too next time, I'll be seriously annoyed. Although, given the fact that Theory exams cost a lot (£230?!? How?!?), no doubt they will

Catta when I sat my exams there were two theory exams of three hours each plus the three and a half hour practical.

From what I understand of the new notes you should be ok studying the old notes for the exams.

Phyllis or Canuck would be better able to abswer these questions though as they are both now working from the new notes, and having classes they can ask directly at the gem-a building in London.

Be well

Frank

Thanks for the response, Frank!
My instructor has checked with Gem-A and it appears there's been a mistake. We are, after all, taking the exams accordingly to the old notes. Phew. Glad we got that sorted out - I was not a little panicked about it. ;)
