Hi everybody,
Thanks for all these nice comments. It was really fun and a pleasure to participate in this chat with you last sunday.
I hope that one of these days we will be able to continue all these discutions in Bangkok, Tucson, Paris or elsewhere.
For info I will be in Tucson from jan 31 to feb 6th and will give a talk about Burma and Madagascar with my friend Richard Hughes on feb 2nd as it was said on this forum.
I will probably also make a presentation in Paris for the "Rendez vous Gemmologiques" in Senat palace with the French Gemological Association in march (I have to confirm the dates) and then I will be in Basel for the fair.

If by chance you are also there, I will be happy to see you around!

All the best,

Is the presentation in Paris open to the public? I might well be in Paris in March.

Yes of course, but you have to register with the French Gemological Association. This year the topic will be if I remember well: East Africa. I'm not yet sure excatly about the exact topic I will speak about as we are trying not to have 2 speakers speaking about the same thing.

All the best,

Ok, LOL but well, you got just my point:
If you read my website and the stuff on pdfs on GIA website, then may be you will not need a long chat over that...
Anyway that could be fun to do if you guys feels that it could be a good idea.
I will be around in Bangkok for few more weeks before to return to the field, so well we can discuss about it.
All the best,

I've sent Vincent a pm to try and get a date for this chat.

I'll let you know when as soon as I hear from him.

We are proud to announce that we will be hosting a Celebrity Chat featuring Vincent Pardieu!

Vincent is an iconic member of the International Gemological Community, currently working with GIA Thailand. His travels around the globe have enlightened us both culturally and gemologically.

Frank has arranged the chat and will add details very soon.

Yes Vincent will be available at 20:00hrs Bangkok time on Sunday 28th November 2010...Times at other places are
London: 13:00hrs
Paris:14:00hrs
New York 08:00hrs
Los Angeles; 05:00hrs (sorry guys)
Sydney: 12:00hrs

(Hope I've gotten all that right)

For those of you who haven't attended a celebrity chat before strict rules of order are expected. some guidelines include;

If you wish to ask a question then you type "question" and wait your turn.

When you have finished your question you type "Done" when Vincent has finished answering he can also type "Done" and we'll move onto the next question. This saves Vincent trying to answer several questions at the same time.

If someone arrives late we don't all say hi and break the thread of the conversation.

If we all ask at once then it's impossible to follow who is speaking to whom. the more people who attend the harder it is to keep the chat text clear so please everyone be patient and wait your turn.

Last but not least I'd like to thank Vincent for giving up his Sunday evening in order to answer our questions.

Hope to see as many of you there as can make it

Be well

Frank

May I suggest that we number the questions as well? Then we can cross reference much easier. E.g. "Question 26", "Over to Question 26", "Answer to Question 26", "As I wrote in answer to Q26" etc.

I'll be on the road then, but I'll try to attend and read the chat through the cell phone at least.

Good rules. Where is the chat? Can anybody attend? I have not been to a chat room here before. Best regards, Lee
