Weeeeee!!! Can you believe it? A few days ago, I was stuck in Grenoble (F) because of the local strike of French railways workers (well, not only them...), so I could not go back to Italy that day, as I planned. I found a ride by car with a friend for the day after, but I didn't book any room the guesthouse here at the labs to spend the night at, and I was still 'homeless' (I got the keys of my apt here today). So I decided to pull a all-nighter in the office/lab. Since I cannot work too many hours straight I found this contest and decided to try it (before trying without success to take a nap on my desk). Well I should thank the protesters, I guess...

I actually was, and still I'm, planning to post a step-by-step photo sequence of a "carvceted" ( ) stone, with a buff top. To have faceting+carving+cabbing in the same stone. Showing the process and the tools I use (I started doing that with an ametrine, but then I forgot to take pics of the last part of the procedure). Unfortunately my lapidary stuff it's now on the other side of the Alps and I've to decide what to do now. It's either bringing the stuff here and do nothing during the Xmas holidays at home, or do almost nothing until Xmas and then move the stuff here. I'm more for the 2nd option, also because I'd like to think about some new "traditional" designs to post. I needed some more ovals, I started with the "olive bar", but I'd like to have a couple more.
About cabs, I'm just hooked on Oregon moss agate. Awesome material. And some more new slabs are on their way to Italy. (now I've a decent blade for my trim-saw and a few spare mousepads, but I still need better sandpaper... )
