Larry Wilcox, of C.H.I.P 's fame, reportedly to plead guilty to federal charges.

He's been linked to the gemstone and jewelry industry but I'm not sure what his connections are.

According to GGMC, the televised gem show will initially be offered via satellite to approximately 10 million potential viewers; however, depending on the order volume, the broadcast may expand to more viewers, utilizing cable and other media distribution partners. Importantly, the TV show will include an ethics and certification group, offering assurance to the consumer of the authenticity of the gems, and ensuring that the gems have not been illegally manipulated with chemicals and other such tools. The show will also discuss credibility factors and regulation of such. The Gem shopping network will have some of the miners' treasure hunting stories coupled with the hard labor of mining, and the faceting of gems to maximize luminosity and the final mounting of gems for sale.

The Securities and Exchange Commission sued two North Texas businessmen Thursday, accusing them of paying kickbacks in an undercover sting operation linked to penny stocks.

More on Wilcox.....

Meanwhile, the company has not been permitted to mine in Montana, according to a spokeswoman for the Montana Department of Environmental Quality. In Illinois, there are no active drilling permits for either the UC Hub Group or the Illinois-based drilling company that it described as its partner, according to a spokeswoman for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

As I understand it, CHiPs guy Wilcox started a mining and drilling company. The company was trading on the penny stock exchange.

Wilcox consorted with a pension fund manager to have the manager buy 800,000 shares of stock in exchange for a kickback along with a promise of another large share purchase and kickback. Start a penny stock feeding frenzy for his company.

Turns out the pension fund manager was an undercover FBI agent and Wilcox is now in the jurisdictional hands of the SEC for starters.

Something like that.

Wilcox started his company in 1999. It has one paid employee. 62.3 M shares of stock outstanding with today's low at $0.0017 or 17/100 of a cent which makes the "value" of the company at a little over $100K before liabilities.
At one point, Dec 2009, the stock was "driven" up to 3 cents per share. I've seen the balance sheets and ledger which are available.

Wilcox was foraging into the "gold and gemstone" industry. On September 22, of this year, Wilcox announced the formation of a "charitable foundation" called "Gems for Gems" that was supposed to be funded by the sale of "Montana sapphires."

According to one report, Wilcox didn't have permission to mine in Montana. No mining permits. I couldn't find any proof that he, or his "company", ever mined one piece of rough.

Reportedly, Wilcox attended the Tucson Gem shows and was setting up a new "TV gem network" through another penny stock company.

Parts of the main stream media are reporting that Wilcox was working with the FBI. Of course, Wilcox, being a part of the entertainment industry, will be treated differently than you or I but the handwritting is on the wall, and evidence, are there that the penny stock fraudulent activity, appears to have been going on for years, in my view.

Wilcox and company, another black-eye for the gemstone industry. What's really unconscionable, is his use and manipulation of children, police, firemen, military folks, etc.

In my view, all these criminals should be charged with conspiracy, income tax evasion, and racketeering.

Seems like some things just keep coming around. They put so many penny stock guys in jail in the 1980's they almost needed their own prison...

But Mr. Wilcox’s propensity toward verbose news releases touting impending business ventures continued unabated. The current Web site lists nearly two dozen statements over the last two years, primarily regarding the two major projects the company says it is undertaking: a sapphire- and gold-mining operation in Montana, and an oil-drilling operation in Illinois.

The nature of those two operations is unclear. The UC Hub Group reported no revenue for the quarter ending April 30, the most recent period for which financial information is available.

Troubled Actor Wilcox Files For Bankruptcy

Troubled former CHIPS star LARRY WILCOX has filed for bankruptcy.

The actor is currently facing criminal charges after officials at America's Securities and Exchange Commission accused him of being part of a bogus company created to generate fake stock sales.

It has now been revealed that the 63 year old has filed for bankruptcy amid claims his debts total more than $1.5 million (£1 million).

Wilcox also allegedly owes more than $5,500 (£3,666) in state and federal taxes, according to The Detroit News.

On Thursday, Wilcox was wearing handcuffs, but no leg irons. He wore street clothing, unlike other defendants, who were wearing jail khakis.

A tall man with white hair, Wilcox said little during Thursday morning’s hearing. He was released on $50,000 bond.

Wilcox, who lives in Southern California, allegedly traveled to Broward County to meet with informants and undercover FBI agents before he was charged.

As part of a July 2 plea agreement, Wilcox admitted to conspiring with others to defraud a pension plan of $40,000. According to charging documents, Wilcox was CEO of UC Hub Group, a Delaware corporation that purportedly operated gold mines. He also controlled millions of shares in the company.

Wilcox allegedly traveled to South Florida in January and February 2009 and met with an FBI confidential source to talk about stock sales. An undercover federal agent posed as a representative of a pension fund fiduciary willing to breach his fiduciary duty to the pension fund.

According to the information, Wilcox allegedly agreed that, if the undercover agent bought stock at inflated prices, Wilcox would pay him a 40 percent kickback fee.

Wilcox received several $20,000 payments, and he or his co-conspirators sent back several payments of $8,000 to an unidentified Coral Springs address.

His attorney requested that Wilcox be allowed to travel to California and Oregon, where his teenage son lives. He also wants to travel to Canada for a job opportunity.

Former 'CHiPS' Star Pleads to Securities Fraud
Updated: Friday, 05 Nov 2010, 6:45 PM CDT
Published : Friday, 05 Nov 2010, 6:45 PM CDT

(NewsCore) - Larry Wilcox, who played Officer Jon Baker on the 1970s hit television show "CHiPS," pleaded guilty on Friday to securities fraud in US District Court in Florida.

The alleged scheme involved paying bribes to corrupt pension fund managers or stockbrokers, who would use their clients' accounts to purchase the publicly traded stock of certain microcap stock issuers controlled or promoted by the individuals and companies charged.

The plan failed when Wilcox, 63, found himself dealing with undercover FBI agents, instead of corrupt pension fund managers.

"These penny stock promoters paid illicit kickbacks to people who they thought would help them profit at the expense of unsuspecting investors by manipulating the price of their stock or fraudulently selling their shares," said Eric I. Bustillo, Director of the Miami office of the Securities and Exchange Commission, which conducted the investigation and pressed the charges.

Wilcox will be sentenced on January 28, 2011. He faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine. [-X

Bankrupt Wilcox completes money management course

By WENN.com|Saturday, June 18, 2011

The former TV cop filed for bankruptcy amid claims his debts totalled more than $1.5 million (£1 million), around the same time he pleaded guilty to securities fraud conspiracy back in November (10).

As part of his bankruptcy, a judge ordered Wilcox and his wife Marlene to take a two-week course on how to manage money, which they completed on Monday (13Jun11).

Wilcox was sentenced to three years probation in January (11) over the fraud conviction for creating a bogus company to generate fake stock sales.
