Hello gemologyonline members,
American Gemological Laboratories is currently looking for a laboratory gemologist. I am aware of how passionate all of the members here are about gemology and I am hoping to find one that would be interested to work in our lab. Previous laboratory experience is helpful, but not necessarily critical so long as the person has at least 2-5 years of experience identifying colored stones and their treatments. We are not presently grading diamonds or testing pearls.
Previous experience with various types of spectroscopy (such as UV/Vis/NIR, mid-IR, Raman, PL and XRF, etc.) is certainly helpful. Training to focus on our particular applications will be provided of course, but a fundamental understanding of the techniques and operation of the instruments is beneficial.
Our location is in mid-town New York and it is a full-time position, so NY city area residents are preferred. I am not going to post the salary/benefits on this site, but please contact my colleague Maria Frances at agl@aglgemlab.com for those who have a serious interest.

ARGH! This almost makes me wish I was still job hunting.
That being said, if anyone is looking at this job I'd like to get in a small plug. I once interviewed at AGL, and they were great people! If I were still looking, I'd happily be applying.
