Deal with caution with anyone using a Hotmail, Yahoo or other free and anonymous account for business purposes, unless you are sure that the using entity is tied to a business licence number/company registration etc, and a known physical address, preferably in your own jurisdiction. Basically, to trade using a 'throw away' 30-day anonymous account, shouts 'Maybe Scammer, watch out!' before they have even told you what they want.

Ensuring the standing of those you deal with takes up time and a little money so one often does not do so for small trades. In these cases always make sure that the business you do will them requires no element of trust. E.g. you receive the goods/cash before releasing anything to them - or put the transaction through an 'honest broker' such as PayPal.

LOL, I just junked my copy before coming to the forum.

If anyone has some spare time, you can open the long headers, track the server the mail is coming from and contact them directly.

Copy the whole email (with all headers) and send it to Spamcop. They'll do the tracking.

Amen. I made the costly mistake of joining a "luxury website" with a name that's also a slang word for foreigner in Thailand :-) In six months, I got about 10 emails total from that site, ALL of them from scammers like this.

A hotmail or yahoo account is a huge red flag for me.

:D I'm quite attached to my hotmail account... I do everything with it and have all my other email addies relayed to it...

I might have to reconsider it and start using that dreadful outlook... :x

Nothing wrong with that at all, Tim. But, for better or worse, much about business is connected to the reasons (illogical perhaps) people use for deciding that they'd like to do business with you (meaning 'one' and nothing personal) rather than with the next guy. What makes them decide to do this is not strictly amenable to logic. It boils down to there being some 'comfort factor(s)' and a real part of this is that 'one' is not going to 'do a runner', will be responsible for what one contracts, has survived in the same business for a while and will be around at least for the life of any warranty or contract duration :)

If one wants - for any reason - to have multiple e-mail addresses that's fine and its fine too to have mail to/from those addresses relayed to catchmeifyoucan@hotmail.com. But IMHO if one promotes catchmeifyoucan@hotmail.com as one's main (only?) business contact address, even in this wired world, one is probably not going to attract those vital 'first-time customers' as readily and frequently as if one has registered and own and promote an e-address like 'servingyousince1777@bankamerica.com'.

Just the maunderings of an old man who knows how hard it is to start a business and make it fly  .

Yeah, I can send emails from my hotmail account from any of my email addies but I think the receiver sees the address as this was send from 'info@wildmicro.com from spauwe@hotmail.com' or something like it.

I've been using hotmail since 1996, I've gotten quite used to it...
