So, tell me, how long did it take you to ID these browns?

Thanks to the incompetence and inefficiency of Verizon I've been without internet access for 11 consecutive days. I just found this quiz and didn't peek at the answers until I was finished. It took about 10 minutes to do all the correct ID's with the trusty help of Liddicoat's "Handbook."

*shakes uncontrollably*

How on Earth did you survive? I'd sure as heck freak out. Then threaten to sue the pants off Verizon.

I hope you told them to credit your account for the 11 days that you were unable to use their service!

I feel your pain on that one! Mine did that right at the beginning of the Matlins chat and was off for a week.

Noob, Snizzy, Africanuck:
My delay in responding is due to my service being disconnected AGAIN!

This has been a real horror story and we (my wife's a consultant who also depends on the internet) have experienced significant financial loss as a result of it. However I'm sure the contract we signed with VZ limits their responsibility to fifteen bucks or so for a prorated portion of the month's bill.

This has been like the worst vision of Purgatory. I knew from the very first day I had a DSL modem problem. But the process of reaching someone who could actually fix it made vivid in my mind the meaning of the old phrase: "You can't get there from here."

The crowning irony is that VZ, which bills itself as a "communications company," is using the most sophisticated communications technology to insulate itself from customers who have problems. I will say that after the ridiculous 8 or 9 days it took for my problem to filter its way through the company's internal system from India to my hometown, action was swift and helpful. But there is absolutely no direct way to contact the people who can really help. I hope VZ pays a price for this policy. I'm going to change to a new ISP at the first opportunity if I can establish it has a different view of customer service when problems occur.

Ah yes - Verizon.... I had Verizon DSL years ago until I bought a house 3 miles down the road where they had "no access in my area".

I immediately called my local cable company who has supplied my high speed internet service ever since. Not only is my connection and browsing speed much faster - their service is phenomenal. I also get a reduction on my cable bill for having a package deal.

Less than 6 months after I moved - Verizon started sending me "please come back" letters. I am still receiving them 5 years later, and I laugh everytime I see one as I am tossing it into the trash 8)
