If I got you right, you say that people are polishing the surface of rough diamonds. How is that confusing to you?

Mineral collectors usually do not want crystals facets to be denatured by polishing (which is making facets more shiny and transparent, but also erases natural features which are interesting evidences of the mineral growth history), although polishing of the facets can be tolerated when it is necessary to reveal interesting inclusions which wouldn't be visible otherwise. But unless one wants to buy rough diamond crystals for a mineralogical collection, there's no reason not to want them to be surface polished as this indeed better reveals their internal qualities.

Well my question is how people can achieve this result? its something looks like diamond pearl beeds. and main question is why ? what is the benefit to do this process? I want to mention here that, it is done on natural industrial diamonds, not to any man made diamonds.

If you tumble diamonds in large quantities together they will reach that state. How long time? No idea...

See this link on tumble polishing gems
http://www.diamondpacific.com/tumblepolis.html

It does not involve cleaning with acids.

Tha majority of these stones are used in tools. Drill heads, dressers etc. It is from a functional point of view this is done. It has nothing to do with jewelry or gems.

when it comes to rough diamonds sold for cutting as gems, I guess some people are possibly polishing the crystal facets for better revealing their clarity potential, am I right?

That is not my experience but I have not been cutting diamonds since the 90's. It seems unlikely though. Maybe really valuable stones...

But just tumbling can achieve this result? There would be some chemical polishing too with tumbling.

To my awareness, there are no "chemicals" which could put a polish on diamond.
Are there, Conny?
