I certainly recognize, as the field of gemology becomes more sophisticated, I will have to sharpen my skills and invest in the tools and training necessary to carry on. I see Raman Spectroscopy as becoming an essential identification tool in the near future. Databases need to be accumulated before it can be generally utilized..... Lots of labs and individuals are currently working on it. I think when the databases reach a point where Raman identification is reliable and repeatable, gemological trade schools will add the technology to their curriculum.
The more folks needing the tools, the higher the incentive for making the technology affordable. The more affordable, the more plausible for everyone to add it to their scope and computer.

What would be the chances of Gem-A getting degree ratification and running the Kingston course through Gem-A with external visiting tutors (ie those who would have been at Kingston) and field trips to Kingston to use their lab equipment?
