Yeppeeeeee!!! A mineral show!!! I see, I've to take the bus 108 from the Embarcadero (23 minutes???)... Nothing direct from the East Bay, uhmmm. Maybe I could go by bike (assuming bikes are allowed on the Bay Bridge, which I'm not sure)...

Well, it's not an issue at all now, since I got a problem with my knee, so no bike for ~ 1 month, I guess. (and I've just got my new bike... )
So if at the show you see someone limping (and grumbling/cursing, in Italian, because of it), it's me. I plan to go this Saturday, anyway. But I'm not 100% sure.

I'm not a regular around here, but I will be leaving in about 5 minutes for Treasure island. Taking the 108! I've enjoyed this show a lot the last two years.

I had a wonderful time! I picked up some American turquoise, turquoise beads, moonstones, faceted quartz, carnelian, one agate, a very nice crystal, and some geodes for my 6 year old because she's very interested in them right now. Nice location.

I played the early bird on Sat morning. It was way smaller than expected, but the "educational" part was VERY well done imho. I liked it a lot. I actually needed to see all the available kind of jade and the different grades. I bought a very small piece of dark olive green Wy jade to play with (the texture of that piece is superfine), and I bought a bigger block of not-too-dark green jade from BC. Also this one has a MUCH finer texture than the only sample of nephrite I owed, and I hated so much (polishing issues due to the coarse grain). Then I got a small piece of red Or sunstone. I don't have any, so I got a piece to cut. Ah, I also got a tiny slab of Morgan Hill poppy jasper (good for 1 cab). Who can resist poppy jaspers? But the man had a box of leftovers of leftovers... So I got only that tiny piece, which is decent.
