Hi all! i hope you are all well.

I would like to know where would be the best place to apply for work experience on secondary jewellery (antique jewellery) in London. I know Burlington Arcade has quite a few stores, however, if anyone can suggest any elsewhere that would be great.

Thank you!!

I know Bonhams offers Internship Programs in the US.
Contact them and see if they do the same in LOndon.

The couple I went into directly didn't seem so interested when I "outed" myself as someone who didn't want to buy jewellery.

As for emailing/calling, only Holts (who are loose-stones, rather than antqiue jewellery) provided a response. They do unpaid internships, but are fully-staffed for xmas already.

I strongly suspect most Hatton Garden establishments are not financially able to carry another salary, but the OP might have a shot at an unpaid internship if her circumstances (i.e. can accommodate herself cheaply close to London).

For the OP: Try Heritage Jewellery (http://www.heritagejewellery.co.uk/). They asked for my CV before, so might be in the market for someone.

One pawnbroker even had the cheek to bring me 200+ miles across the country (£100+ train costs) for an "interview", and then say almost immediately that, although I lacked experience, he wanted to meet me with the view to me maybe working for his company in the future... after I had attained sufficient experience elsewhere!

He even looked through my CV and asked "why I had been teaching for the last 4 years, rather than gaining experience in this industry".

Thankfully, I bit my tongue before I could blurt out "because for the last 4 years, all your fellow ***** peers have demanded experience while being completely unwilling to offer any".
