Let me see if I understand correctly--If one downloads this, it can be saved on one CD-R? Mine are "Memorex CD-R 52X 700MB 80min". Would this work?

As long as you have at least 1.3 gigs of space free on your hard drive, Yes. 8)

I know it is listed at over one GB, but I download it twice thinking something had interfered in the first download and both came out 485,507 kb or ~486 Mb. I checked the 1934 and then the end and it all seemed to be there, so maybe you could get it on a CD. If not I can burn it for you on DVD-R ( only blanks I have) or CD. It can be a very slow down load :)

Thanks, Jim :D . I will download it tonight and see how much space it takes up. If it is less than 700MB, I'll copy it over to a CD-R so I can have a backup.

Edit: Well, unless I, too, missed something, the download only took about 7 minutes and 485,507KB.

Remain calm....this is doable.
I store all my gemological stuff on an external hard drive.
They are quite inexpensive and very practical.
For $69 you can get 1TB of external storage!
Check this out

Why get a color, like blue or red? Because you can see at a glance where your gem data is stored. (I also have a black one for other stuff)

I would save the G&Gs, Gemology Tools Pro, GemeWizard, Journal of Gemmology issues, my appraisals, anything related, all on an external drive. Don't have to worry about scratching a disc or misplacing a wee flash drive.
My 2¢

Hello Gemologist,

Get modern, I have not used a DVD or CD in several years. Just use your laptop HD and then back up all this and all your Gemology etc on an inexpensive 2 or 3TB Seagate external HD.

Copy and paste this address into your browser:

https://archive.org/search.php?query=jo ... pe%3Atexts

and see the many other gemology items that I have uploaded to archive.org for your education.

Read "A Glimpse of Our Lives" and other things at www.worldglobetrotters
