Hey guys! =D Alright... So I am new here, and had no idea as to where to post this, and when I posted in the "Inclusion(s) of the day" thread, I got no bites! =( lol So I am moving it here, and deleting it in the other thread. lol So now I ask all thine lovely gentlemen and gentlewomen, about the inclusions in this stone of mine that I have. They aren't any that I have seen at all (ever actually) with the bright orange, and black within it. I've looked up everything, and simply cannot find anything what so ever that looks like it, and its driving me mad! lol I am an avid collector of gems and minerals for my entire life now, or as long as I can remember, and I actually even deal in them as collectables and fine jewelry, but this one eludes me completely! lol
So in observation: Its a 443ct steel grey/white stone, and a super shiny (far more than the photos give way) Almost a metallic sheen to its shine, with bright orange (Garnet?) inclusions, along with black (carbon?) inclusions. I have attached 3 photographs of it for better help on the matter.
So if anyone has any idea on what this looks similar to, I'd love to hear everyones feedback. As I cannot find anything similar to save a life, save for industrial Bort(?) or something. I can't find much else, and I am eager to know its breed! lol
The only other thing I can think of is perhaps topaz... But it really looks nothing like it...? Fits the hardness factor of what its reading though when I had it tested, as it makes a diamond tester go off as well (like some of my normal topaz does even, so not thinking its quartz, as I've tried my regular quartz stones, and they don't even make it CLOSE to setting it off like the topaz does) so my other guess was a form of weird topaz. (?) I am at a loss, and its truly driving me mad not knowing what these (above) are. lolol
I truly thank all in advance for any input! =)

File comment: And many a black inclusion as well. (Carbon?)
The reason you haven't been having any luck with getting this identified is that there isn't nearly enough information to tell. You need to provide more data: SG, hardness (you say it's hard but don't give a number), and RI would be nice though it's hard with the rough surface.

Ah, well I shall see what about I can get in those areas of information and update this then. =) I know I can get the SG and the hardness just fine (can't be hard to atleast cover those) but the RI will be be an issue, as I don't have the testing means for that like I do the other tests, so that may be a bit harder to come by, also for the reasons you stated above (rough surface, etc).
In the meantime, if anyone wants to take some fun guesses as to what it may be, I have another stone as well, (from the same place) which also has the same style orange inclusions, along with blue/black inclusions. For funs sake, here it is. =) Lovely couple of mysteries they both are. lol
below are photos of the second stone as well. More info on both, coming (very) soon.
I shall get the information I can on both stones, and I will be posting it soon right here for helps sake. Until then, hearing anyones best guess as to the physical appearance, and if either look familiar ro anyone, its fun hearing others thoughts regardless. =)

Well while I'm waiting on getting the information for the other two stones above... I also have this stone here. I purchased it from a local old rock shop that I just discovered, as its a hole in the wall, and the place looks like its just boxes of dirty stones piled carelessly atop one another, with dust everywhere. It truly looks like a dirty warehouse of random buckets and trays of rocks and stones. (A rock and gem dive, to say the least.) lol
So I found this stone in a tray, where other stones were (a mix of stones all laid out, no organization to any of them what so ever at all. lol The woman who worked there couldn't tell me what about 90% of the stones were (including this one), therefor I also got a giant hand sized deep purple and red, Sugilite CHUNK as well, for $20 which I was very happy about. =) lol Needless to say, she sold this one to me for $10 as a "quartz" because she said she didn't know what else it could possibly be otherwise. lol...
Anywho! So it stood out to me, and shined VERY metallic and bright, and its got a decent weight to it, at 103ct. and a specific gravity of 3.61. Its colorless from what I can tell, and its clear as day in the center throughout. DEFINITELY not quartz by any means what so ever, was thinking maybe Topaz, White Spinel, or something called Taaffeite (?). Any thoughts? =) Photos below! ♥

I love playing 10 guesses! Mine is : chunk of slag glass.
No, its most definitely not slag glass...lol As I know my minerals and stones enough to know that this is indeed natural. Its just a matter of a natural "what" that I am attempting to understand. But we can keep trying! lol More information on it all as soon (SG at the very least, which at that point will better help even me in knowing) as I can get it.

Well it was confirmed that the stone above (the last photos I posted of the clear shiny stone) is indeed Colorless Topaz as I thought. =) Wooo! Now to get the info on the others... I'll be back soon... =) lol
