I just realized that between the Blakstiks™ for polishing, the "Watercut" series of Diastiks™, and now the Diastik™ "Waterpreps™ for prepolishing, all stages of faceting can be done oil-free.

With an increased demand for copper laps?
Haven't noticed much here. BATTs and Zincs are flying out, though. Maybe people are opting for the laminated coppers bonded to a backing plate. They are much cheaper. For occasional hobby use they'll last quite a while.

I actually worked with perfume essences for a project once.
In my career as a process control software engineer, I sometimes had to visit a textile dye house. You put your regular clothes in a sealed bag, wear rags to work, and throw away the rags before going home. I don't know what the motel does with your bedding. The tech manuals that went to dye houses were kept in sealed instrument cases up in the attic.
This was back in ancient times, when we still made textiles in the US.
