I'm looking for a machine that can cut sphere/cabochon diamonds? Have someone heard of this kind of machines? After a big research only I could find is all the other gemstones spheres machines, but nothing for diamonds.
Use a normal sphere making machine but have a spare pair of tools of charged with diamond dust and cut away. Alternatively, if you don't need many, buy them from a dealer, much cheaper than a machine and diamond rough.
Alternatively, if you must have a sphere cutting machine (and I suppose it would be useful for cutting beads in all sorts of precious and semi precious material), try 'phoning Otto Simon in Idar Oberstein ++49678141141. They have a couple of english speakers on the staff so that isn't a problem.
No idea who built the machine Thomas. It was a Idar-Oberstein company, that much I know. Bought some stuff from them but at the time I could not afford one of the spheres.
Interesting, but as Connie says, hardly new, in fact I was offered a couple (in Idar Oberstein) back in 2008. I suppose the difference here is the even colour and appearance.
I suspect it's the sort of thing that will probably "only" be a curiosity (no offense to curiosities, of course!), so it's easy for someone to miss out on its 15-minute notability each time it comes out.

Likely it was manufactured with a lapidary sphere making machine. I would think the the process was very long and wore out many sintered diamond tools. This is very interesting: http://www.diamantschleiferei.de/ The family's name is Hahn, my maternal grandfather's name and his father was from the same area in Germany.
Reminds me of my old chemistry lecturer, who used to declare, with an acerbic note in his voice "Do keep up at the back!". Made us swots smile, I can tell you!
