Will the test found here http://www.gemologyonline.com/Forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=15915 give you a false positive if used on shell pearls?

The reading I did said that they are made from a core taken from the shell that is used in growing cultured pearl and that they make a sphere out of this shell and layer on a material that contains real pearl material in them.

So I wanted to know besides price, looks and feel what would be a good test.

One possibility is the exact consideration of the drilling. For non-real pearls, there are more irregularities on the pierced coating than real. There are also two other proven methods to verify the authenticity of a pearl: the tooth test and scratch test.

The authenticity of the pearl jewelry shows that he takes his own body temperature while wearing.
Perhaps this may be a distinguishing feature for the layperson ....

Shell pearls are mostly drilled and much more cheaper than cultured pearls but higher in price than imitation pearls wax (glass wax bead) or crystal pearls.

By blending the nacre used with color pigments are color shades let unlike the cultured pearl specifically select.

But in shell pearls there are also different qualities in shell pearl coating.
So there are different prices on the market too.
