At least some people around take the effort to grind a lab stone to some more or less convincing shapes before trying to sell it as natural. These guys are too lazy even for cobbing a Verneuil half-boule with a hammer... Don't miss the chance to get your natural "corrundum": real, natural (as stated explicitly in the listing also in the item description), mined ruby from Madagascar!

Geez... there are clones of that shop selling those half-boules even with "IGL Certificates". All of them are natural and untreated, of course. With the exception of one stating "routinely enhanced", but still "natural". OK, I'll now exit this horror show of Indian ruby sellers...
Apparently this behavior is much more widespread than I thought. Maybe because I never look for ruby rough, since it's soooooo unlikely to get any, especially on eBay. The one above just popped up in my eBay homepage. Thanks eBay, well thought: I really want it...
Just got a reply from gemsbizzare. He can't understand why I am complaining. His natural ruby comes from a national supplier with certificates .He stated that I am misunderstanding how the business works. He said I am a lovely buyer and wants to do long term business. He really must be mixing me up with someone else.

Hahaha....they play the ignorance card! ....and maybe...just maybe...it will become a real natural ruby one day if they squeeze their fist tightly, click their heels 3 times, and say "these are real rubies...these are real rubies.."

Apparently someone bought it for 121.50 USD. Not bad for something you could buy for ~60 USD from a US-based vendor with a crystalline (pun intended) reputation. Or for ~25 USD from a random Thai vendor on eBay. I guess that if they are posting these is because there's someone buying...
Same dealer is selling strong color change Russian Alexandrite in 50 to 80 ct. sizes. 25 bucks and less. He insists that his stones are legit. He did tell me that the same national supplier provides this material to all Indian dealers. I contacted E-Bay to see why this blatent misrepresentation is permitted. They stated that even though many Indian gem dealers might have 50 or more negative feedbacks( selling phony, dyed, and misrepresented) stones, that this isn't really excessive. I guess they won't look too hard since about 90% of their fees in overseas gem sales come from these scammers.

And this is why you should probably pass up Indian sellers on Ebay when buying rough... Misinformation, calsilica slabs, dyeing, soaking for clarity, and those giant hunks of coloured rock are the bread and butter of these sellers. They also use feedback bots to inflate their listings by churning out enormous amounts of 5 star feedback with a privacy lock attached.

This and this are about as good as you get for untreated Ebay rubies, both are quite included. Really what it comes down to with these indian sellers is being able to bypass bans with alts and label their items as things that normally won't even be seen on Ebay due to scarcity (like ruby, tanzanite, and prasiolite).
Don't go onto eBay unawares and don't spent money you're not ready to lose. If you know just what to look for and what to avoid there are deals to be had but it takes a fair amount of time and a readiness to lose some money along the way to get them.
