I recently used some neversieze on project were I wanted to superglue something, but not have it stick to one section.

I had problems getting the top off of the superglue..... which happens often.

so I got to thinking..... what if I put neversieze on the tip of the superglue before I put the top back on. It should stop the superglue from locking the top on. I am also going to try it some "barge cement) that has a screw on top. as well as the Danish oil that is always a pain to get open...... need to e careful about that one, do not want silver neversieze to get on the wood..... but worth a try.

I tried this on 2 types of super glue. One is the squeeze tube. the other is the plastic bottle. I will let you know how it works in a week or so.....

I was thinking of putting a tiny dab of petroleum jelly (vasaline here by us) on the tip, haven't put thought to action yet.

That is unnecessary with cyanoacrylate glue as it dissolves rather than swells like an epoxy.

It is working on the larger bottles. It has been on and off several times, with no problems at all.

On a smaller tube, I got to much on and ended up wiping it off. I hoped that there was enough left, but I took to much off. The problem with the small tubes is that if the top gets stuck, you can break the tube open trying to get the top off.

When I went to use it, I ended up breaking tube. This is not as much of a problem, because it was almost empty.

I have all of them stored in a tray, and most of the time, they end up on their sides.

This is probably making it much worse, especially with the bottles. The glue can drain down and fill in any gap if the top does not seal well.

I am going to look for a deeper storage tray, and try to set up dividers so the tubes and bottles stay upright.

I have not yet gotten a new squeeze tube to try it on.

I am going to take the time and get a q tip with some never sieze on it. I am going to open all of the bottles, clean them with acetone, to give the tops a chance to seal, and then apply a thin layer on them.

Well, a little while later...... partial success.....

It seemed to work on the larger squeeze bottles.

It failed on the little tubes.

Part of the problem is of my own making. I do not store the bottles and tubes standing up. I picked up a little storage tray, and the stuff ends up laying on it's side.

I bought a different deeper tray for storage.

I am going to take some scrap wood (probably scrap 2x4 so I can keep the bottles and tubes upright.

I hope that the glue then drains back down and does not build up in the cap.

I am going to create a new thread on a different glue, that has a nice way to control how it is dispensed, which may help as well.
