Looks like the ground of a small creek in a forest...

Nice!

I do love those Ethiopian stones--the fossils can be very detailed and 3D. I'm just waiting for someone to find a bug in one--you never know, it could happen!

Marlow, the opal reminds me of a frozen lake in Finland...

Hi Stephen,
I find it not easy to source these 3D opals. I would like to collect these. I leave the bugs to you. I'm happy with forest floors. With the current Ethiopian strike, i was expecting more occurrence of these 3D stones but don't really come across them. Is it because the cutters scrape off the boulders for a solid opal or it really doesn't occur often?

It is not too uncommon but you have to keep your eyes open, pick through big piles of rough and sometimes just find the right seller. I have several and pick them out whenever I get a chance.

Thanks, Stephen! I don't rummage on Ethiopian roughs and go straight to cabs but I'll do next time.

:D Tourmaline in Tourmaline, I googled trying to find pics of similar inclusions but
not one. Are they unusual or am I searching the wrong way to see other examples.
