Yes, im not sure about anything in this stone, only that it looks like cheap treated quartz. I have a little bit difficulty to believe thats what it is due to I know the seller and he have not at all a interest to sell that to me. But of course, someone might have been able to scam him. I also find it strange to be quarts when I make easy to see scratches with both turkish diaspore and peridot.
I will take it to a lab in Hanoi next week.
Thanks for all the input.

Hi, im back. I could not figure out my old login as "Bezelbub".
The green piece was looked at by a guy saying he is a gemolog, and had a look in a microscope(only I think) and said it's glass, due to bubbles. So I thought, ok Barbra, you were right..but not feeling sure, I postponed answering here. Then forgot about the whole piece for a long time.
But ok, I have been getting some more testing equipment lately and also I bough a huge piece of clear green rough of a trusted guy here in Vietnam that is for sure the vietnamese "transparent amazonite"/orthoclase that I was hoping the piece in this tread would may be. I saw that this new piece had quite similar color and appearance, but a much more obvious layer structure from what i guess is cleavage. Some areas along the edges looks like the beautiful rice paddies in the mountain sides of Sapa, layers upon layers.
Well, so today I went to my local cutter, got a flat polished, then took the RI, then SG, then checked that it was double refractive and I got this:
Light green rough Double refractive 64.40ct Weight in water: 39.29ct (Loss of weight in water, 25.11ct) RI: 1.53 (still training on my new fable 003) SG: 2.56
Which suggest it was exactly what I was hoping for when I bought it. Right? Or did I go wrong somewhere? Or what else can it be if I did my test right?
Thanks guys, I own two large pieces and one cut oval of 3.80ct-ish of what has the same data, one is this rough 64ct one, and one huge 180ct one, both posted in instagram, probably more then once. The 180ct one has a huge clean gem in it, but a bit lighter in color. Its posted in my private facebook group too, found by searching BalderGems(not page, but group).
I will check this apophyllite if the case is overlapping characteristics. Thanks!
I also have a few more pieces of less facet quality, but still cuttable, so it starts to heap up, just need to be 100% sure what it is, and that its from here, which I know really, but how to be credible and "prove" that?
64 ct + 180ct + 3.80ct facet. It all points to Minh Tien, 1998 pocket of green feldspar and test same numbers as mentioned over. Added Led light in this photo and takes a nice glow. Tried to edit as much as possible to look as in person, seen in my iMac display. Beside this I have some untested smaller pieces as suspects, and a confirmed one that is recently mined. It seem they find very randomly this material still.
Traditional translucent amazonite can have a wonderful paraiba-like glow in some cases despite its lack of fluoresence. I have never seen one of these faceted ones in person but the chromophore is the same so it would not surprise me if they showed a similar effect.
I did a quick check with LW UV which is the only UV light I have at hand, and it dont show any other reaction then a bit coloring of the UV light itself and a colorless glow or how to describe it. It looses its green. White-ish or maybe what gemmos describe as chalky? Maybe my vision just get a bit blurred from the UV light. Not sure. Size of clean parts in these rough is unusual indeed, and I'm looking forward to see them as a precision cut suite one day which would be optimal. Let's see what is possible
Hi, I will update whatever happens to this rough, but it might take some time since I both want to keep them, and get them precision cut into a suite. Which my budget don't allow me to make a priority right now.
All my RI readings are 1.52 or above and in one direction 1.525-ish or so. Low birefringence. Most of the readings looks very much like 1.522 on my Fable 003. When I look into the RI-list in IGS it seem closer to amazonite, then orthoclase. Ill check more lists and compare.
