This site is not meant for personal promotion. I would usually disapprove your post. But perhaps some of our members can give you some direction, not offers.

Hi - and welcome to GO!
In today's marketplace, many sellers have gravitated to using social media to sell their goods. The good part is your gem rough will be seen by many people.

The bad is not all will be interested in exactly what you have. And, they may be consumers (retail buyers), they may be jewelry store owners, gem cutting factories, individual gem cutters, or gem rough dealers. Which, as one could imagine, they all have different buying habits.

If going the social media method, would need to focus on particular groups that their purpose is solely to sell gem rough, and is possible to find groups featuring only Tourmaline. Doing so, one of the sticking points is how do you vet the buyers. Some buy as a lot, and they receive one type of price, then others want to select one piece, and they receive a different kind of price.

In addition, would need to be thinking about these things:
Need to work out pricing, so is fair to the various marketing outlets.
Need to work out funds transfers, to make it easy and simple (if it is possible)
Need to work out shipping so that it is easy on all concerned.
Need to work out returns, and how you plan to handle them - as they will happen.

Alternate plan - work with your ministry of mines to encourage international buyers to come to Liberia to purchase in person. Working alongside other gem rough vendors, set up a small gem trade show in an area where it is easy for foreigners to fly into. Can use hotel space like they do in Tanzania, Namibia, Pakistan and other countries. This way, the entire country wins.

Hope you find this helpful.

Bruce is here and really has no experience with selling rough. I have sold cut stones, but basically only to local people that I know. I am interested in finding good homes for some of my stones and that may end up in my donating some Laurellites to museums. Laurellite is a name I have coined for an unheated cuprian color changer from Mozambique. It has a very rare reverse Alexandrite color change, you can read much more about it on my web site, BruceFryTourmaline. I am thinking about donation because even large museums do not have a piece of Laurellite and if the Trade would get hold of it it would be heated to beautiful cyan blue paraiba type tourmaline and the world of tourmaline would suffer a lose.

Good Luck with your effort.\

Bruce

Additionally, you will need to let buyers know:
1) the size of the crystals (length, weight, etc.)
2) the cost of the crystals
3) if individual crystals can be bought or it is only a parcel

facebook has a number of groups that sell like that.

I thought you are a master cutter but now I see you are a very good adviser also! Keep up the good work Roger, I am a fan of your works!
