I was amazed by how many gems are posted on various fb groups every day, even some wholesale offers...
Is that where most not pro trading has shifted to?

The stuff I have seen posted on Facebook since it became popular, has oftentimes taken my breath away. I've been introduced to new material, unbelievable stones, and everything in between through Facebook friends and groups. I often wonder where the heck all those people came from, because I knew most everybody on the internet that was into rocks and gems....or so I thought. Since FB changed the algorithms a little while back, selling has become more challenging.

Facebook has some upsides, and some downsides. Discussions may be good and involve more people but they can be hard to track down after the fact. A lot of groups can get exhausting because of how much misinformation is thrown around. And there is also the occasional post of something truly spectacular that goes around, like the recently found spider preserved in Indonesian opal(!!!!)

true...good post, Stephen. I think it killed the great forums we had around the web, where folks could interact and share new gems or stones and new ideas or discoveries. Facebook turned into a place where everyone, anyone, and even their brother's, could all turn to selling rocks and crystals/gems as a means of making money and becoming involved in the industry..crystals..rocks..healing baubles, etc.

Who doesn't, didn't, or hasn't sold on there? The younger folks is where that statement above FOR sure applies.
Where were all these gem and crystal folks before facebook?
It will balance itself out. Sooner or later, most will realize they don't have the means and ways to make a full time career out of it, and then they will be forced to get normal jobs and career's after Mom and Dad boot them out. =D>
