If you will permit a comment, I would shape the end of your hammer fitting to a gentle dome with a REALLY high polish. That way you get a much better finish to your bezel settings, they look a bit rough at the moment.

I would say that the aesthetic might have been intended, but it certainly isn't ancient, we have examples of Anglo-Saxon goldwork here and the finish on the bezels, even after 1200 or 1300 years is very good indeed.

Curious I went to Lucy's website. She is a young but well trained and accomplished jeweler. She has images posted of jewelry of various styles a esthetics. She is obviously capable of making clean, precision styles. There are examples posted. Many of her designs feature these rough hand wrought style bezels. In my opinion this is an intended effect that she worked hard to develop and incorporate into her styles. Personally I like it, I imagine that many of her clients do as well.
Below is Lucy's story behind the design of this Ruby ring.
Jen bought me in this gorgeous purplish red ruby that she had purchased in Myanmar - and literally said design me a cocktail ring..... the ruby, as is often the case with rubies, wasn't cut particularly well and looked a little wonky unset - so we decided to go for the organic look - which is totally Jen anyway! I tried out a lot of new things on this ring as Jen was 100% trusting in my ideas. I am in love with the hammer textured bezel settings and the pave, in fact I just love the ring so much that I'm making a collection!
Great job Lucy, I am sure your collection will bring you much success.
As for Barbra's reference to the "ancient" esthetic, I agree. The World is older, and much bigger than Anglo-Saxon. Rough pounded bezels are common in many of these older styles. Many of the most popular designers today incorporate this style into their designs. It is certainly not a result of poor tools or skills.

Several designers are working with this hammered bezel look - refreshing after all the years of bright polished metal. Also the use of antiquing as more than just to fill in recesses.
Good job, Lucy!
