New to the Forum or The Quiet Type

I got this as a gift, and out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone knew what the stone it’s made out of is? It’s about two inches along each edge and quite heavy, thanks in advance for any help (:

It looks like banded aragonite often know by the misnomer Mexican onyx.
