Hi All,

I just bought a natural Reverse Colour Change zircon from a burma dealer,
Is this kind of RCC normally heated?

I also heard there is natural Red-Green Zircon insist.
Is that real, if so, where is the origin then?

Newly collected on this month
10ct+ stone from burma

I moved this post to a more appropriate area.
What is RRC zircon?

Routinely blue zircon has been heated.

Reddish zircon exists and green zircon exists.

Green zircon is usually metamict.

I don't think zircon ever naturally comes in dark blue. All of these stones are heated in a reducing atmosphere. I have a vague memory of some very light blue stones occasionally being found? Even that might be contentious.

Sorry
The RCC is short for Reverse Colour Change,
I found records of the changes 2 types
from light brown to Red
and from Blue to Green
under different light sourses.

Yes,
I collected some faceted purple zircon from Burma,
But could not confirm the origin, some said from Vietnam.
But no heat evidence been found.

Regarding color change zircon, here is a thread from 2007
viewtopic.php?t=2632

Here is a brief article by Oliver Waldis who I consider one of the most gifted gem/mineral explorers I have ever met. Curiosities just seem to call to him, "Over here Oliver, I'm right over here."

https://mineralgypsies.wixsite.com/gems ... nge-zircon

Sidebar: I have never been with Oliver when he wasn't able to pull a wondrous gemstone out of his pocket.

@CLwong999

WOOW - YOU KILL ME WITH THAT STONE!!! :smt007 :smt007

Reverse CC is always violet/blue in DAYLIGHT to greenblue or green in INCANDESCENT LIGHT.

They are heated - I posted mine here too and Oliver Waldis replied kindly. Check SSEF for further information - a short article in G&G too.

Check the spectrum - the typical „jail bars“ you will see.

Some short videos on my Instagram account...

Really helpful to know it more,

Many thanks for your kind infos.

Recently I found another 10ct size RCC zircon,
will it worth to buy as a collecting piece?
Do you have any suggestion about this?
What is the odds to get this kind of effect after heating?

Only you can answer this question. In a general sense, it's a relatively rare, and quite attractive, variant of a somewhat popular gem, and it has a strong 'nifty' factor. But for collecting it comes down to whether you want it or not, and how it fits in with whatever else is in your collection.

And price is an important factor.
