The link doesn't play for me for some reason. I've never heard a bad word said about Mitutoyo and I've known them for years (engineering trade shows etc)
I use a mitutoyo digimatic caliper (bought specifically for my gem research.) I'm very happy with it. As with any precision tool buy the best you can for the job.

glhays - I have one like that here somewhere (in brass I think!) It's really my fathers and must be more than 50 years old. (I dont have a use for it but it's one of those tools that just feels good in your hands)
old tools never die - they just wear out the user...

What to buy depends on your needs.
We have many pair of $17.95 Harbor Freight steel digital calipers at work, you can get a different reading on each for the same item, and they drift from one measurement to the next. They are usually within .05 mm, even though they "read out" to 0.01 mm.
Needing to calibrate a high-precision 3d printer, I picked up some $145 Mitutoyo calipers. Every time they read the same, no drift, always closing to "0".
Some places get the same as the HF stuff, price them up to $30 - $40.
