Bring the specimen to someone who can physically test it. Pictures are not sufficient for positive ID. Perhaps the geology department in a local college or university. If you live in the US, your closest Rock & Mineral Club could help.
I'm not disagreeing, but if it's slag it is atypical slag, maybe silicon or an odder industrial one like that. If local testing is done please share the results.

At first glance, I was thinking galena myself due to the metallic luster and what appears to be 90 degree cleavage in multiple directions. Interested to hear the results of physical testing.
