No need to be offended. It is what it is.

As some of you are aware, I do not really work on traditional jewelry anymore due to the nature of my job. However, I have taken up woodworking over the past few years and recently combined my hobbies to make this fun ring for my wife.

It is made from cocobolo wood, which is quite dense and durable. The stone is a 12mm rose cut quartz mounted upside down. I didn't really have a plan when I started this, it just kind of organically came to be as I went along. :D

Astounding! I love the melding of the mediums.

First time I saw it was with Seaman Schepps. Have you seen his pieces?

I'm familiar with his work and appreciate the skill (far beyond my own), but am not a fan of the design aesthetic. Ymmv. I've often thought that there is opportunity for wider spread use of mixed media in retail jewelry. Most examples seem to be designed as art pieces.

For me, Schepps screams mid-century modern. Not a look for everyone.

I prefer your designs.

Contiguous colour aloft minimal metal,
rhodolite butterfly earrings,
brilliant pavilions with pseudo checkerboard crowns
emulating the shimmering sheen of butterfly wings.

Hello Gemarts PK

It is very pretty! These rhodolite garnets have found an advantageous place in your jewelry .

Excellent work Gemarts PK! My wife would love this type of thing, she is a bit butterfly obsessed, lol.

I'm a big fan of how cleanly you have executed this design with the minimum of metal visible :smt002

These look both beautiful and refined, congratulations! They look like the sort of earrings a woman would wear with a dress with a 5-digit price when attending a party in a palace or on something like the yacht Anna 1, I got to see with my own eyes in the last months of 2020!

Ten custom cut green tourmalines converge in a 10 point rosette silver setting. It was interesting to note that the longest side of the stone is in the golden ratio to its adjacent side, perhaps dictated by the base five fold symmetry of the design( the golden ratio itself being derived from the pentagon). The crowns were cut in a pseudo rose style both to generate a reflection pattern complementing the radial structure and to somewhat compensate for the darker tone of the gems. I would welcome advice from the pros if the gems could be set in a more aesthetically complementing manner - the setter felt a bezel style setting would not be practical so we settled for a minimal two prongs per stone.

Wow! That looks amazing - both the stones and the setting!
Congratulations!

HI Gemarts PK ,

Well done ! I love it :smt007
The shape of the jewel is very aesthetic, harmonious and original. Green tourmaline is a magnificent gem.
What is the gem set on the suspension ring ?
