Identify and clean lap

This is a lap I came by used and I'm wondering if anyone might have info as to the markings on the lap...MD&R TIN 800 and on the copper side 1200...so I would clean this with a dressing bar and lava soap while it's revolving, correct?

I would not use a dressing bar. A Lava bar is fine you can just scrub it back and forth first then do it rotational. I will see if I have some old docs that have some onto to share.
